I'm not announcing where I am moving to due to the fact that it would completely ruin the point of moving. So goodbye for now, and if any of you read this and find me again, welcome anew. <3Petite_Berrihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00251388746212428211noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6105283074170142682.post-47087251356709713692010-10-03T20:49:00.000-07:002010-10-03T20:49:06.181-07:00On Charisma...

Charisma. Noun. [kuh-riz-muh]. Noun.
Meanings:

1. a special personal quality or power of an individual making him/her capable of influencing or inspiring large numbers of people.
2. a quality inherent in a thing which inspires great enthusiasm and devotion.

Charisma is a very vital skill not only for Princesses and Lolitas, but anyone living in society as a human. Charisma is, in my opinion, a combination between confidence, courage, credibility, and grace that allows your words to appeal to large groups of people. If you have charisma, you have the power to make people believe, motivate, inspire, and give confidence to others. This makes many things in your life easier. Have a new idea to announce at a business meeting? Charisma. Job interview? Charisma. Running for office, both in school or legally? Charisma. Charisma is very important in many things in life.

Historically, women, upon coming of age, would be presented to all of the local bachelors in a debutant ball. She would be asked to dance by all of the men there. Everyone in this situation would need a healthy amount of charisma! Whomever is presenting the woman would need to convince the bachelors that she would make a good wife. Every man would be asking her to dance, thus, in a way, advertising themselves. Now how would it go if the young lady were to be too shy to dance with any of the men? Well, that just would not do! The point of the ball was to take the first steps into setting up a marriage for the young woman, and therefor she must allow herself to get to know all of the men at the ball.

Charisma can be attained in many ways. One way is to practice speaking to yourself in a mirror several times a week. Watch your posture, try not to stutter, and speak with a smile. Another, which is the way I am going about it, is to take a public speaking class. Although I did not actually sign up for the class as an elective (I was given it because the other elective I had chosen was either full or the time had coincided with another class I'm taking, however, I really admire the teacher, and it's only a half-year class, so I didn't bother trying to switch it.) Although I've only been in this class for about a month, I've already gotten a lot more charismatic. I'm naturally a very opinionated person, and in my blood, I am a peacemaker, therefor, it's always been that whenever I see something unjust or wrong, I speak up. That is much harder to do in this school as I really don't know anyone and it may come off as being aloof or elite. However, thanks to this class, I'm speaking up more than ever (however, that may just be do to the fact that pretty much all of the students in this school are extremely ignorant... hmm...) Also, I've gotten better at speaking slowly, or quickly, depending on the situations. Generally, I've become a lot better at speaking to people both in public, and one-on-one. I've gained more charisma.

I'm sorry I've not been updating lately- life's been throwing me for loops all over the place. It's been hard. There's only a few places I feel safe, and none of them are here. Maybe I'll start posting poetry and short stories here, for the sake of uploading more? How would you feel about that?Petite_Berrihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00251388746212428211noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6105283074170142682.post-25472821468605411372010-09-21T17:42:00.000-07:002010-09-21T17:42:30.241-07:005 Ideas for an Autumn Princess

1. Go apple picking in an outfit inspired by your favorite faerietale- Little Red Riding Hood or Sleeping Beauty.

2. Go to the many carnivals that take place during October- old carousels, Ferris wheels, and haunted houses beckon your way!

3. Dry leaves in books and then make collages out of them. Frame and hang for pretty seasonal artwork.

4. Host or attend a Halloween party- I'm attending two on the same night, in the same place! *My boyfriend's little brother's birthday party first, and then the "grown-up" party, still at their house, after- I'm very excited. ♥*

5. Explore the Halloween section of any department store- am I the only one that squees at nearly everything in a Halloween section? The goth in me just comes out full-swing! I want to get some of the realistic fake weapons they are selling at Target this year- I want the mace and shield!! Not for a costume, just to have, ♥, or for music videos! Also, I already bought a pack of glow-in-the-dark bats, and they are swinging from my ceiling! Did any of you used to have those glow-in-the-dark stars glued to your ceiling? I know I did!Petite_Berrihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00251388746212428211noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6105283074170142682.post-57205298732941312242010-09-19T18:35:00.000-07:002010-09-19T18:35:40.564-07:00Secret Spotlight #2There were a couple of secrets in this week's post that mad me think, laugh, cry! <3 Sorry this is so late, but I was over my Prince's house all day. Also sorry for lack of updates. I just haven't been myself lately, I haven't been smiling I'll try to work on it some more, I promise.
A lot, actually- it was pretty much a giggle fest! I really enjoyed this secret, not because I agree, but because it makes me think of some of the outrageous fantasies and fetishes that people have. The fair takes place in Brimfield, (where else?) Massachusetts, the second weekends of May, July, and September. I go every single event to buy teacups from the same vendor every time. I also buy other things, sometimes, but we mostly go to get teacups and wander around.

One of the many reasons I like going to the fair is that, seeing all the pretty furniture and decorations, I can think about my future with my prince. ♥ I often joke to the King and Queen, with, "This is what my house will be filled with when I 'grow up'..." teehee. ♥ Really though, I always find beautiful things at such amazing prices here! For instance, we found working stone fountains, some with lions and the like, or some with globes or fish, for only $95 USD each!! That's so inexpensive, for something so beautiful and tranquil....!

Yes, I'm just about lame enough to take a picture of myself in a mirror...

(Pardon my face, I was laughing at my father laughing at me for doing this. ha! also my face looks a bit chubby here. owo probably because I was looking down, at my phone screen. haha!)

This is what I wore today! I dressed for winter because my mother told me it was going to be cold and we were spending all day outside. >< First to a birthday party in a park, and then to the fair, so I dressed warmly.... at least I was comfortable, even though it wasn't cold at all. *laughs*

I wore a crimson dress, two pairs of black tights, black boots, a white coat, and a black headband.

I'll post more soon, probably tomorrow- I have a speech to write, a shower to take, and some serious sleep is needed to make it through tomorrow! Oh how I hate Mondays *laughs*Petite_Berrihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00251388746212428211noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6105283074170142682.post-31198314512056367442010-08-29T23:46:00.000-07:002010-08-29T23:46:08.490-07:00Secret SpotlightSo there was one secret in this week's Lolita Secrets that had me seriously laughing on the floor.

Here it is:

Now, first of all, my lol'ing has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the picture. It's the text and the message that makes me laugh. For those unaware, Summer vacation is generally regarded as "noob season" because all of the schoolchildren (myself included, of course.) generally have more time to surf the internet, therefore there's an influx of new lolitas, irrelevant posts on EGL, and "itas". This secret is basically saying that "noob season" is almost over, with most schools beginning new terms, and teenagers, children, and young adults having less internet time, with classes and homework and all. It made me laugh in another way because I am pretty much the opposite of this. I post less during the summer, even though I am online more. I've honestly made one post to EGL this entire summer, as opposed to the maybe four I posted during the school year. I'm still reading the same amount of posts and blogs, but I'm just less active. It could be the heat. Also, I'm generally a lot less procrastinative during the school year, as you may or may not see once school starts this week.

So, what did you all think of this week's secrets, particularly this secret? I enjoyed this week's- nothing too "flame-y" or stressful.Petite_Berrihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00251388746212428211noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6105283074170142682.post-14627733073782537392010-08-28T16:42:00.000-07:002010-08-28T16:42:24.822-07:00Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation ReviewSo today I purchased Maybelline's "Dream Smooth Mousse" Foundation, as part of my "back to school" shopping. So here's my review! I literally just tried it out, so my opinion of it could change with more use, but this is my opinion for now.

Packaging:

It comes in sort of a plastic jar with a compartment in the top that opens with a button. I don't mind the packaging, but I would prefer if there was an obvious "upside-down" and "right-side-up" with this jar. >> Also, the compartment takes up about 2/3s of the total jar. I would prefer it thinner, or maybe if the jar was bigger so more of the actual product was here.

Pricing:

I purchased mine for about eight dollars (USD) at a Target store. I think this is pretty fair.

Coloring:

The colors aren't very varied, honestly. All of the ones I've seen thus far are yellow-based. Which is fine, for me, as my skin is yellow-based (or, right now it is.... tanned. >>), but there really should be some pink-based tones as well.

Now, this was completely my mistake, but I actually purchased the wrong color. I just realized how tanned I am right now, and therefor the second fall comes, I'm going to have to purchase a lighter color... luckily, the color perfectly matches my mother's skin tone! And she apparently has many problems with finding makeup that matches her skin tone.

Application:

The little compartment on the top of the jar contains this sponge-type thing intended for easy-application. This thing gave me hell, pardon my language. It did not provide easy application. It streaked very harshly, no matter what I tried to do with it. Some people suggest just applying with your fingers, however, this didn't work for me either. >> In the end, I just used one of my brushes. A round blush-brush, but I used it as sort of a stippling brush.

It has a very nice consistency, I must say! It's not too liquid-y, nor is it powder-y. It is almost like a cream, very, very nice. It goes on smooth, and stays that way, at least thus far. I've had it on for about an hour now and it still looks lovely! It also looks fine with makeup over it, as I found out by testing a Revlon blush I also purchased today.

All in all, a pretty good foundation! I'll continue to use this until I'm unable to due to my tan going away, in the event of which I'm probably just going to buy the same foundation in a different color!Petite_Berrihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00251388746212428211noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6105283074170142682.post-8033669815537596072010-08-18T14:39:00.000-07:002010-08-18T14:39:00.574-07:00Astrology #2- NumerologyToday I'm talking about another Astrology topic. ^^ Also, I'm going on a short "vacation" with Miss Meghan's family until Saturday, and therefore I won't be able to post daily until Saturday or possibly Sunday, depending on how I feel when I get back.

So today I'm talking about, you got it, Numerology!

Numerology is the use of relating live or physical objects to numbers. This can tell your fate, or help you make important choices in life. The type of Numerology that I prefer is based on an alphebetic system. It tells your "purpose", destiny, etc. by taking all of the letters in your name and adding them up. Each letter represents a different number, up to nine. The values are as follows, in numerical order:

1= a, j, s; 2= b, k, t; 3= c, l, u; 4= d, m, v; 5= e, n, w; 6= f, o, x; 7= g, p, y; 8= h, q, z; 9= i, r

Once you have all of the letters valued, you must sum them, until you end up with a small number. I can't tell you the limit, because some places say single digit, but some say one through eleven, and also twenty-two. The form I follow is 1-11+22. Following that system, my numerology number is 11. Here is the definition of 11 as given by this Facebook Application.

Your Life Path Number represents the path you should take through life and the talents and skills you have to make your journey a rewarding one.

In Numerology the Number 11 represents the "Spiritual Messenger." Those carrying an 11 in their chart are in some way, or possibly every way, on a journey of spiritual enlightenment meant to bring divine insights to us all.

Having the Master Number 11 as your Life Path makes you an inspiration to others. Your high energy and enthusiasm is both contagious and magnetic. You are on a journey of spiritual exploration and those around you await the answers you find.

Positive Traits
Intuitive, Sensitive, Bright, Visionary, Spiritual, Uplifting, Creative, Inspirational, Optimistic

There were a few very interesting things listed here, for me! One of them is that my Tarot card is Justice. As a Libra, I am consequently always acting a peace-maker. It's really in my blood. >< In fact, in sixth grade, everyone was given some type of award, and I was awarded the peace-maker, voted by most of my classmates. ><;;; My teacher even gave a small speech about it! Uwaaa.

Another "funny" factor, for me, is that my Flora is the Lilly. Lillies have been very important to me since about fourth grade, when I became very fond of the name Lilly. Because of this, Lilly is the name of several of my characters, and was the main character of the first movie Ms. Courtney and I ever planned on making!! We are remaking that movie now, by the way. ^^ It's called Lilly's Destiny.

Also, I literally laughed out loud at "Negative Traits- None" ahaha

Finally, eleven was my "team number" in softball in third grade! >< ((I despised softball, by the way, that's why I never talk about it.))

So, have a good rest of the week, darlings, and I'll update as soon as I can. <3 I love you all!

With love,
Well, a Rising Sign is basically what people generally see as a first impression of you, while your sun sign represents how you are on the inside, or how you are once people get to know you. A good example of this is when people who only know a little about astrology meet someone and immediately ask them, "Are you a Pisces? You seem one to me!", while, in reality, you are a Virgo! They only guessed your Rising Sign.

Your rising sign is based on not only the date of your birth, as sun signs are, but also the range of time you were born in! For instance, I was born at 2:25 a.m., so my "range" is 1-3. If you were born at 1 p.m., your "range" would be 12-14. I used a Facebook Application to calculate my rising sign, but I'm sure there are other (possibly better!) ways to do this, such as a chart. Here is the application I used, for those as lazy as myself, teehee- clicky clicky

I discovered that my Rising Sign is Leo. ^^ Here is the description I recieved with it:

"Leo rising people cannot help but be noticed. They radiate a special energy and magnetism that gets others' attention. Sometimes it's because they are loud people who pay a lot of attention to their personal appearance (especially their hair!); other times it's due to a ...regal manner that simply demands interest from others. Leo Ascendant people are very self-aware and body-conscious. They are acutely aware of others, and how they come across. In fact, these people are especially aware of their personal "backdrop"--they consider what the people they're with, and the environments they are in, do to their own image. Often, Leo rising natives feel as if they are on stage, even in the privacy of their own homes! They are given to rash decisions, temper tantrums, and excesses."

I-It's too true!! ><;;; I was amazed with how well it captured my personality. So, today, I planned on having an informational post, but some circumstances, (mainly some haters and a comment on my last post, for those restlessly curious,) put me in a very bad mood. Plus the fact that it's two in the morning.

Basically I didn't do anything productive, today- my day was a mixture of crying and screaming along to music, avoiding my mother, and sleeping. >< I don't really have much of a good excuse for this, I do have a story, but I'd rather not get into it as I can only tell you my side of the story, and my side of the story would make my mother seem like a terrible person, which is far from the truth.

So this is just what I threw on after my shower... you can tell I'm sick, still. >< I generally wear prettier and more detailed nightgowns, a lot of which are antique or vintage, but I just was not in the mood today. So instead I threw on some freshly-washed bloomers and my beloved Ray William Johnson shirt. My hair is up right now because I'm doing one of my favorite hairstyles, this one, from Bubz Beauty-

I know that it's a summer hairstyle and that summer is almost over, (already!?) but I think this is a cute and casual look for anytime!!

Tomorrow, I will try very hard to be more productive, I promise. ><
I'm going to try to write a post every day, (keyword: "try"), whether informational or personal. Today, it's a personal post.

Yesterday I came down with a fever, and it didn't lighten at all today, so I was forced to miss a bridal shower that all the other ladies in my household attended. Since I could not attend, my dear grandmother gave me the "prize" she had one, that white teapot filled with flowers!! It was a wonderful surprise, and it looks just perfect on my teatable! ((Please pardon the mess on the couch behind the table- I need to clean tomorrow, as you can tell. ^^;;;)) My mother and grandmother were at the shower with my Aunt, my uncle took our "guest", Steven, on a bike ride, and my grandfather was golfing this morning, so when I awoke, it was just me and my father in the house. I was feeling very sick, so I mainly just lazed around in the morning, ahaha. I stayed in bed, reading blogs and stories on my PSP, and text-messaging my prince and his friend (my ex-boyfriend), Adam.

Last night, my prince, Randy, was staying the night at Adam's house and they decided to "prank call" me. At first I knew it was them, so I wasn't frightened at all, I just laughed it off. However I was curious as to who's phone they were using, since I have Adam's home phone number programed into my phone, and Randy's cell phone programmed as well. However, when Randy called me on his cellphone and I asked about it, they said "you're getting phone calls?" and things like "it isn't us," and "who's phone would we be using?" From there on out I started to be frightened. This person sending me text and picture messages seemed to be "an admirer". I recognized the first three digits of their phone number, so I knew which town they were from. They were saying things that scared me a little bit. For instance, when I asked "Who are you?", the reply that came was "Someone who wants you badly."

I continued messaging this person for hours. The pranks started around eleven o' clock pm and continued on until about two am. This person was telling me things like "You're pretty, smart, and kind and Randy doesn't deserve you. He's so rude to you all the time." ((To which I replied "So what? He loves me.")), telling me they loved me, thought I was hot, and that I had pretty eyes and such. I don't receive these types of compliments often, so I was slightly tied between absolute terror and flattery. Randy texted me asking things like "Any news on the creep?", and told me "Do anything to find out who it is."

After a while, this person, who had been labeled simply as "Creep." in my phone's contact list, stopped messaging me, so I asked "Are you awake?" and he said "No...", to which I replied "Well then you're pretty damn good at texting in your sleep.", to which I received "Hahaha, that's another reason I love you, you're so funny." For some reason this comment set me off. It annoyed me. I didn't want to be loved by someone I wasn't even sure if I knew. I put it off and continued talking, trying to figure out who it was. They asked for a picture. I sent one, keeping in mind Randy's comment to "do anything"....

A while later, after more talking, I recieved a message saying "ADDIE, you passed with a B+" my reply was ".....???" "You were just tested to see if you would cheat on ME." "Wait, cheat on you...?" "This is Randy." To be honest, I became a complete child, then, swearing and all. It was extremely immature of me, and of coarse I regret it. "I. F****ING. HATE YOU." "Why? I was just testing you." "You promised me it wasn't you!!!" "I understand, but it's tough love, babycakes. I just needed to know." Him calling me "babycakes", a rarely-used petname, tells me even he knew he messed up. It didn't make it any better, though. The rest of the conversation was mostly repeats of that, up until "...I'm mostly upset because, everything you said... it was all fake..." ((This next one is copied word for word, since I saved it to my phone, ahaha)) "Like your eyes being gorgeous? I love your eyes and you are my precious."

To be honest, my heart melted right then. ♥ It's always been something of a romantic fantasy of mine to be told that I'm precious to someone. In my mind, that's the ultimate compliment.

However, they were still very cruel to me. >< ahaha, It's laughable now, but I was very hurt at the time!!

It's getting late now, so I must take my leave, but I'll try to write a more productive post tomorrow morning!!

A cool set of falsies found via google. <3

Applying:

♥ Buy or make a set of fake nails. I make my own.

♥ Apply nail glue to the bottom of the false nails, all across the nail, and up until about 3/4ths of the way.

♥ Blow on the glue for just a few seconds to help make glue tacky.

♥ Press onto your nail and hold it on with some pressure for about 20 seconds.

♥ Repeat on all nails.

Removing:

♥ If you want to keep the nails when you're done, fill your sink with water as warm as your hands can stand without being overly uncomfortable. If you do not want to keep the nails, fill a bowl about half-way with non-acetone nailpolish remover. You really only need enough to fit all of your fingers in at once, at least on one hand at a time.

♥ Soak your nails in your remover of choice. If you are using polish remover, soak until your nails have a sort of "melty" feeling to them and carefully pull them off. If they do not peel easily or are painful, soak them until they aren't. If you are using water, soak them until part of the nail comes off, then pull the nails off, very carefully. Warning: Chances are, both of these methods will ruin your natural nails. I've yet to find a way that doesn't damage my nails at least slightly. However, the polish remover method is less damaging, but more expensive. ((you have to pay for a new set of nails and also nail polish remover.)) Basically, if you only plan on wearing fake nails once, use the polish remover method. But if you plan on using them regularly, use the water method.

♥ Apply lotion to your natural nails. Chances are they aren't looking too good right now.

♥ You may wish to go the extra step and apply a different substance to your nails to heal them a little more. I use Avon's Overnight Salt Water Nail Treatment.

Enjoy!!!
It was raining and since it was Sunday, I was repetitively and melodramatically singing the song "Gloomy Sunday" all throughout the car ride to downtown Bangor. :P

We went to an indoor antique flea-market. It was a huuuuge building! The store had two floors, as well, one ground-level, and the other basement. I purchased a set of five handkerchiefs, a necklace made of white pearl beads splatter-painted with gold paint, a pink and white lace negligee, and a mint teacup that I later discovered is most likely from Japan in the 1930's- and worth more than triple what we payed for it!! ^^

Even though we didn't purchase much, we were in the store for such a long time!! TT^TT A couple of hours at least!! But it was well worth it! Also there is a cafe inside of the store, they sell drinks and sandwiches, cookies and the like. We only ordered drinks, but all of their food looked very good!

Then we crossed the street and walked for a little, coming across a cute store called Bella Luna. It's a clothing store that we went inside and shopped for a while in. I tried on so many different clothes, because there were things that I wanted to try on, and also the things my grandmother wanted me to try on. In the end I got a crimson-red dress that is very flattering on me, and a black cardigan that had a very pretty pattern screen-printed onto it in white, and also a dragonfly pin to match the dress! ^^

For dinner we had steak, baked potatoes, and vegetables, along with which I learned I do not like steak. >< Also we baked cookies!! They were delicious!

We were going to watch the movie Invictus, but my grandpa Russ accidentally returned that movie instead of returning the one we had watched the previous day. >< SO instead, we decided to watch the first half of Pride and Prejudice. I liked it a lot, but didn't get too into it the first day.

I didn't take any pictures or video that day, so I must take my leave now. ^^Petite_Berrihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00251388746212428211noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6105283074170142682.post-50136627765485508162010-07-23T16:29:00.000-07:002010-07-23T16:29:25.941-07:00Princessly Diets: Tips on fruit!Hello everyone! Today I'd like to share a quick tip on how to get your daily allowance of fruits- easily and painlessly!

What I like to do is measure out a cup of your fruit of choice. ((Or your metric equivillent- I'm in the U.S. so I measure in cups.)) Today I chose blueberries. Wash them out and put them in a bowl with a little bit of a topping. You could use a tablespoon of sugar or honey, or something more flavorful like 2 teaspoons of chocolate chips. It doesn't even have to be sweet! In fact, my topping of choice is a few slices of sharp chedder cheese! ((Not too much, however, my dears- too much cheese can clog your arteries!!))

Then, with your bowl, go and do something mindless. Some examples are watching a movie or playing a simple video game like Mario or Tetris. ((Or, for more advanced gamers, Final Fantasy- Echos of Time. Seriously, mindless!!)) While doing this activity, you will likely mindlessly munch on your healthy snacks- thus giving you the nutrition, without having to incorporate fruits into main meals like dinner or lunch! I am currently watching the Korean movie 200 Pounds Beauty.

Most of us need only do this once a day, but some of you may require more than that. In order to find out the correct amount of fruit you need each day, please check out the Food Pyramid Website's chart.

That's all for now, my princesses! Eat well and stay healthy!!Petite_Berrihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00251388746212428211noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6105283074170142682.post-69331477594162311402010-07-18T21:15:00.000-07:002010-07-18T21:15:08.685-07:00My Maine Trip: Day OneHello everyone! Today I'd like to talk about Day One of my trip to Maine last week.

Day one was Saturday, June 10th, 2010. It involved getting up early, getting dressed up, curling my hair, and leaving the house in a rush. Before leaving the house, I had a little tussle with my mother. Later on, in the car, I expressed to her my feelings and how I felt she was being a little rude to me in the house. She exploded and pulled over and proceeded to scream at me for a while. I don't take well to ANY loud noises ((Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome)), especially yelling, so I was sobbing. I listened to the song "Pretty Girl" by Sugarcult and came to the conclusion that- it doesn't matter. My mother was just in a terrible mood and it had nothing to do with me. I came to this conclusion because of the lyrics of the song, particularly this line- "She's beautiful as usual, with bruises on her ego, and, her killer instinct tells her to, be aware of evil men." Later on this was resolved.

I spent many of the hours of the car ride text-messaging my dear friend Miss Abbey, begining when we drove into New Hampshire, I opened my window, and noticed that the smell of cake was eminating. Everywhere. So the message I sent her ((and my best friend, Miss Courtney, but she was busy and never replied.)) was this: " 'WELCOME TO NEW HAMPSHIRE'... where everything smells like cake. <3" and the conversation flowed naturally after that.

My parents and I made it to Kennebunkport, our scheduled meeting place, about a half-hour early, even though we had been stuck in traffic for a while. So we stayed in the boiling-hot car for a bit, until that was just too much for us. But before we left the car, it began to POUR RAIN. It hadn't been raining at all on the drive, but as soon as we parked, rain! And there was thunder, LOUD thunder, and again, due to my PTSS, I began to hyperventilate a bit and clutched my huge teddy-bear, Momo, and my small plushie microbe, Penicillin, for comfort. Once the rain died down we walked up to the rest area and went inside to use the restroom, then waited on the deck area until my grandparents arrived with us. They went to the restroom, then returned, and we began to talk. As they were talking, I noticed two exited-looking girls had approached us and were openly and happily gawking at me. I looked one of them in the eyes and smiled, to which the conversation which followed was like this:

Girl One: "We really love your outfit!!"
Me: "Oh, thank you very much." ^^
My Mother: "Are you girls into this sort of stuff, too?" ((She couldn't call it what it IS? Lolita? Kidding!!!))
Girl One: "Yeah!!"
Girl Two: "But we've never seen anyone in real life..."
((General staring and smiling all around))
Me: "It really exiting when you see someone dressed like this in real life, isn't it?"
They looked SO wide-eyed here. <3
Girl One: "YES!!!"
Girl Two: "Where did you get it?"
Me: "Online."
My Mom: "On a site called Bodyline! It's a lot cheaper than some of the more expensive stuff..." ((that comment put me off a little, but oh well. <3))
Me: "Yes, it's a little more reasonable- since brand can be so expensive!!"
Girl One: "Oh my gosh, I knowwww!!"

And then we said our goodbyes and they walked off looking dazed. <3 I love encounters like this.

We made our way to The Maine Diner, where we were supposed to eat together, but the place was PACKED and my parents had a graduation party to go to, so they left while my grandparents and I stayed to eat lunch.
While waiting outside, an older gentleman told me, "You look very pretty!!" and I said thank you, and we had a short conversation about how that never happens in Massachusetts, ((Only once, in all the time I've worn Lolita...! Besides school, that is!)) and how Maine was defiantly different, to which one of the older ladies he was with replied "Oh, he is from Massachusetts!" eheheh I felt a little silly.

Anyway, we ordered Broccoli Cheddar Poppers as an appetizer, and I ordered a fruit salad, Potato Skins and tea. Everything was absolutely delicious! I really recommend this place if you're ever going by it. Also it was featured on a show I love, Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives with Guy Fieri. Along with that, it was nominated Maine's Best Diner 2010, and a few other years as well!

Also, while we were eating, the gentleman from earlier peeked his head over at us, and said to me "I really enjoyed seeing you, so thank you! Keep being pretty!!" It was so interesting to me that he enjoyed seeing me so much as to find me again, just to say goodbye.

After the long drive to Hampden, Maine, we dropped off my grandfather Russ at his office, where he had left his car, planning on meeting him at home, while my Grandmother Lee and I drove across the street to the local video rental place, where I chose The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and she chose Invictus, which she had wanted to rent for weeks. At the counter, there was a basket of candy, including saltwater taffy, which I had never eaten before, so Grammy Lee let me get two peices, I chose one pink and yellow and one blue. I had read saltwater taffy mentioned recently, as it was in Victoria Suzanne's July Style Tips. I absolutely loved it! So sweet!!

A blurry picture of the blue piece- hand-wrapped in wax paper!!

We ordered out for dinner, Chinese, and I had pork-fried-rice. We watched the movie I had picked out, and I must say, albeit the beautiful Valentina was a wonderful character, the movie itself was not very good! The plot progression was so. slow. So slow, in fact, that the actual plot was not revealed until, I'd say, about 3/4 way through the movie!!! After the plot was revealed, the movie was a lot better, but still not enough to be worth watching again. If I do watch it again, I'm skipping the first half.

Here is all the video footage I shot on Day One: It isn't much, only two clips, but I think it's a little funny! Also, the song used in the intro is "Santa Barbara" by my favorite band EVER, Meg & Dia. The lyrics express exactly how I felt about this trip. Enjoy!!
Thus, I ((almost positively)) will not have access to a computer and therefore will not be able to update. However, I will have my phone, so if any of you have my Facebook account or cell phone number, feel free to message me or text me! I might be updating with little pictures with captions that I take, depending on if I use my phone for pictures or not. <3 I wish you all the best of weeks!Petite_Berrihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00251388746212428211noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6105283074170142682.post-52535901585536704612010-07-09T09:07:00.000-07:002010-07-09T09:07:25.378-07:00Food for Thought: Itas and New LolitasJust a short post today, since I am in the midst of packing, but I've been reading an awful lot lately on ita girls and new lolitas not exactly "hitting the mark" on what is lolita and what is not. The large amounts of posts on this topic lately is vastly due to the fact that many conventions are taking place lately, since it's summer vacation! ((cheering ensues. teehee <3))

At any rate, I enjoy reading posts on the blog Ramble Rori, but one sentence of Christina, the authors, newest post, Conventions & Brand Power, just gets to me:

"I don't want to exclude people, but wearing an outfit that clearly isn' Lolita and calling it Lolita is incorrect. When something isn't blue, you're not going to call it blue, are you? "

Well, that honestly depends. If you lack the knowledge of what blue is, you would, indeed, call something blue that is instead, let's say, red. For instance, a very small child may know the word blue, but not know what the color blue looks like. Or, a foreigner could think that "blue" and "blew" are the same, although they are not. Finally, something could appear to be blue, but really be, let's say, purple. Such as blueberries. From a human eye, they appear to be blue, however, under a microscope, you can see that their color is truly in the purple section of the color spectrum.

What does all this mean, when applied to Lolita, or really, any fashion?

Well, basically, itas would not be itas if not for their lack of knowledge. Generally, people don't classify something as lolita just to get a rise out of us, because no one generally would say something to an ita's face that could be even remotely classified as a "rise". If someone were to teach them really what is lolita and what is not, they would not be calling certain cosplays lolita. Or, you could just wait. Sometimes ((many times.)), an ita will eventually come across something that will make them see the errors in their coordinates and they will slowly change from ita to lolita.

Now, I'm not promoting anyone to spend their time teaching itas what lolita really is. No. I am not suggesting that in the least. I'm simply trying to say that if they had the proper knowledge, they wouldn't be itas.Petite_Berrihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00251388746212428211noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6105283074170142682.post-18082591119791500332010-07-01T16:26:00.000-07:002010-07-01T16:26:20.845-07:00Back from my Unnofficial Hiatus!I'm sorry, I've been gone so so long!! Honestly, I have no excuse except pure laziness. But now I am back, although with just a meager photo-post. Hopefully I'll be able to write a lot before I leave for Maine next weekend, on the 10th. I've decided to just not write about my New York trip, like I was going to, as THAT's what made me not update!! I just didn't want to write the posts I promised you all. So I'm not going to write those posts.

I'll have some actual meaningful posts later on, but for now, enjoy some photos, all from WeHeartIt.
I'm sorry I've not posted in a few days, but I do have a good reason. I have an overnight field trip tomorrow morning! I'm not going to say where I'm going just yet, but I will tell you when I get back, so most likely on Saturday. But, the good part for YOU girls is that you get to see ((dun dun duuuun)) many pictures and two reviews!!

The products I will be reviewing are Avon's Lavander eye pillow, and an Herbal Shampoo set that was purchased in Foxwoods. The set includes shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and a lotion. I like the looks of the ingredient lists- mostly because it does not contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, often used in shampoos and is known to be very bad for your hair. As for the eye pillow, its simply a lavender silken sack filled with flax seeds and dried lavender flowers. The flax seed is designed to put slight pressure on your under-eyes, which theoretically supposed to reduce bags and puffiness. Lavender is a known natural relaxant and is designed to calm you. The package that the pouch came in used the examples of jet-lag and long, stressfull nights. Well, I fear this could be both, ahah.

Although I said I would not be revealing the location until after I return home, I will reveal the basic information of what we are doing. Firstly, we are visiting two museums, then going to our hotel for the first time. From there, we *should* have a bit of time to get changed, freshen up, or generally just chill out. Then there is the part that I am most exited about- A Medieval Nights Dinner Show!!!!

I'm extremely exited about this. Basically it is dinner- with a twist. In the theme of being Medieval, you must eat with your hands. While I am not so exited about this part, I am exited about the fact that it is set up like a royal court- complete with "cast" members that compete in competitions! And while they are cast members, they are not acting. They are really trying to go against each other! There are seven competitions total, although the only one I know details about is the fact that there will be jousting.

So that will be my trip. I will post in MUCH more detail upon my return.

And now, even though this is not the main part of this post, I would like to tell you a little bit about my day. I had been very nervous about going on this trip since Monday, and it only made it worse that my Prince was not going and was staying home. I was feeling very stressed out and nervous, but after our mothers conversed a bit, his mother, Miss Stacey, offered for me to come over after school- even though she would not be home for the majority of the day- as long as we would agree to help my Prince's little brother, Jay, watch their baby sister Tori. Of coarse I said yes, although I knew it would be uncomfortable to be in a house alone with two boys watching a two-year-old girl. But at the same time, I felt safe as I knew neither of them would make me uncomfortable or "try anything", so to speak, that I wouldn't agree to.

Well, to sum it up, I had a wonderful time. While Jay was watching Tori, my Prince and I were up in his bed chambers and he somehow had convinced me to play a shooting game with him. Although I do love video games, I had never ever played a shooting game before, neither did I want to. But, with a bit of convincing, I agreed. He had to teach me every single control in the game, but I know that he didn't mind and he wanted me to learn. While teaching me the controls, he says "Now shoot me." In panic, I looked at him and said "What?! N-No!" With a grin on his face, he replied, dead seriously, "Shoot me before I shoot you!" and began to try to shoot me in-game. Naturally I fought back and ended up killing him. While I was busy frantically apologizing, "Oh my gosh, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!!!", he grinned again and said "No, that was great! Good job!!"

Then he brought out the "bots", as in the actual enemies, as we were fighting on a team. Well I was a little worried, but I got very used to it after a while. At first I was doing bad and he had to give me tips, the most important being "See, don't stand out in the open like that. Go into one of the hallways or up the stairs." Eventually he built a fort by blasting out some of the walls with a rocket launcher, then had us both hide in it. One thing I found very funny was him being protective of me, even in a game! At one point I got killed and he said "Let me kill that mother****er." I said, "Why?" and he replied, in a half-mumble, "No one shoots my girl... only I can shoot my girl." Although he meant it as a serious statement, I could not help myself from laughing!

In the end of the game, I had a kill count of about 18 or 19, while his was at 22 or 23. He was pretty surprised, (( "I've never seen a girl do so good on her first try!", and yes, he is a bit sexist at times.)) and he seemed proud of me, which made me very happy, although I continuously thought during game play, "Wow, A princess killing people. A bit off.", but upon remembering Sniper Nyan of Aesthetic Lolita, I realized that it may well be alright. Even if it felt strange for me, I was happy to have done well with something I was uncomfortable with. That, in my opinion, has always been what I've felt being a princess is all about, being willing to try anything and perfecting any skill that fancies her. The sad thing is that I'm not even sure what game we were playing!! ((Although I'm fairly certain that it is called Dead Lock))

(((This next part is not very lady-like, so please skip it if you will be insulted.)))

After that, I explained to him that I was nervous about leaving. He told me that he didn't exactly like it either, but that everything would be alright. He held me and somehow we ended up French kissing in his bed. As vulgar as it sounds, it made me feel safe and happy and comfortable. I don't remember ever feeling that loved.

Why am I telling this, you may ask? Well I would like to prove that no princess is perfect. I often let my lady-like repertoire slip for the sake of romance. I will act vulgar and inappropriate and generally like a teenager ((albeit a respectable one)) if it will make me comfortable and happy. Although many times I refrain from doing something for the simple reason "Well a true lady wouldn't do that," love is not one of those cases. I am willing to act as wrong as necessary to make sure that I am happy, and you should all be willing to do that as well.
